hi Susan, re. #7 above. Really? I would intuitively always write this as “nerd”. Unless the quotes contain a complete sentence, the punctuation is not part of what Sharon thinks of Brett.

Also, the Oxford comma in #9 is bugging the heck out of me 😇😈. Perhaps worth its own column. I personally write “paper and scissors”, hence “rock, paper and scissors”. I personally feel the Oxford comma is needed only to clarify a list if the final item is a compound or phrase of more than a single word.
