I think a crowdsourced thesaurus, like a crowdsourced anything, is a great idea. I’ll check it out, thanks Michael.

The user has to be cautious with the ranking system. The right choice of a synonym has much to do with your particular context — there is rarely an absolute best choice. I also write a lot of poetry, where syllable count comes into play and can be the tie-breaker among near-synonyms.
