Just reading this powerful piece now, along with Tom’s reaction and Sandra’s measured response to that. I understand Tom that you were triggered by this poem coincidentally appearing on the Eve of the D-Day anniversary. But I am not reading an angry broadside directed at “white men” or any such thing. I am reading a deeply personal account of pain and ideological terror inflicted on the author and her sibling by a family member, and possibly other acts of transgression that are deliberately left vague. Well done and best wishes.
