Perhaps the one positive outcome of the Ford/Kavanaugh hearings is that prople are using the word indelible and its variants more.

Here’s my popping-into-head memory:

Phone conference at a pressure cooker company, I’m on with my direct manager, and a female lawyer even higher ranked than him. All the sudden I hear myself mumbling audibly: “Fucking assholes.” At an obtuse comment he just made, an obvious power move to reject something I said and suck up to her.

Whoa did I really just say that out loud? The call was done at that point. I sat in silence for a minute, then rushed to her office to apologise, and to make clear that it wasn’t directed at her. Never apologised to him. Spent the political capital I had to keep the job, walked out a few months later as if leaving a toxic waste dumping ground. Two of my most exhilirating moments in recent memory.
